| Description: |
I'm fairly laid-back, but at the same time rather obsessive. I like to live in a geeky little world of science-fiction, it's more fun than real life, and I love having someone to share it with.
I'm very chatty and friendly, and I'm looking for someone to natter with over tea, cuddle up to on the sofa with to watch Doctor Who, someone to trust and care about.

| About me |
| Where I live |
Dundee is a very interesting city. It's big enough to have everything I need, but small enough that I don't feel overwhelmed in crowds too much. The weather is utterly mad - random snow in April, occasional hail until June, alternating glorious sunshine and torrential rain six times over the course of one day... I love it. The people are bonkers, too. Which is good, cos it means I fit right in. |
| Where are you originally from? |
I was born in Plymouth. I still have my accent. We moved to the Highlands when I was 8, and to Paisley (near Glasgow) when I was 13, which is where my family currently lives. Apart from seeing my family, I really dislike going home - everything's so drab and run down. |
| Do you want to stay there? |
I have plans to stay in Dundee for at least a year - I couldn't abandon my best friend in his final year at university. I have vague plans to live in San Francisco at some point, but I've still to work out whether or not it's actually feasible. I can't see myself staying in Dundee my whole life, though - I want to work in a zoo, and the nearest thing we have here is a small wildlife centre.
| What is your occupation? |
I'm in my final year of uni, graduating in just one month. I have a weekend job with a newspaper distributor, but I'm going to find animal-related employment once I'm done with university. |
| What have you done so far? |
Nothing terribly exciting, just education and part-time jobs, really. I've been very tied up in studying and health issues this last year, so I've not had time for a life, or anything like that. |
| What are your future plans? |
I want to work in a zoo. Just looking after the animals, a simple zookeeper, or something along those lines. I may move to Edinburgh or even down to England to find work, but I don't have to worry about it for a little while yet. I want some time in a quiet, enjoyable job, to recover my health and earn a bit of money. |
| Your perfect partner |
Geeky, just like me. I want to be able to talk sci-fi with my girl and have her be just as enthusiastic as I am. She should also be kind, clever and pretty, and more of a nights-in person than a going-out person. I love shy girls, even though I'm a bit shy myself sometimes. |
| Stuff I like |
| What are you interests/hobbies? |
I read and write fanfiction, mainly Doctor Who. I used to cross-stitch but can never find the time anymore - and when I do, I keep losing bits. Being a huge sci-fi geek, I watch a lot of television, mainly DVDs. My current obsession is with The Tomorrow People. I have a serious weak spot for seventies-produced/inspired telly and music. I listen to a lot of audio plays, mainly Doctor Who but some Tomorrow People, Sapphire & Steel, etc, from a company called Big Finish. |
| Music |
I'm fairly eclectic with my music tastes, but I prefer things I can sing along to, or which have a good walking rhythm. I don't go to many concerts or festivals, as I'm not very good with crowds. |
| Your fav tv series |
Doctor Who is the main one - both old and new. The Tomorrow People, Sapphire & Steel, Timeslip, other seventies productions. I'm just getting into The Man from U.N.C.L.E., which is from the sixties. My more modern preferences include Red Dwarf, Firefly, House MD, Life on Mars, Ashes to Ashes, Heroes, NCIS, Pushing Daisies, The L Word, Veronica Mars, etc. I'm a big fan of comedy, especially stand-up and panel shows. I love Mock the Week, Never Mind the Buzzcocks, Have I Got News For You, 8 Out of 10 Cats, and QI. I would happily watch any of these with someone snuggled up next to me. |
| Your fav books/authors |
I read mostly Doctor Who books - my top bookshelf is all Doctor Who, and half of them I haven't even gotten round to reading yet. I always buy more books than I have time to read. I'm a big fan of Eoin Colfer's 'Die Hard with fairies' style and Rob Shearman's surreal black humour. I think reading is very important, whether it's a classic or a spin-off from a television show makes no difference. |
| What sort of movies do you like? |
I prefer movies that make me laugh, but good ones, and not gross-out humour or too much slapstick. Feel-goods are often my cup of tea, and I have a real weakness for disaster movies. |
| Types of people you like? |
I tend to get on with other people who babble. Enthusiasm is the best thing in the world. If someone's passionate about something, I love to hear them talk about it. Other geeky people, obviously. I don't really get along with people who are into reality TV and clubbing. |
| What kind of people do you find attractive? |
I really like short, petite girls with cute noses and/or freckles, and I tend to go for brunettes - but I'm not always that fussy or shallow. Glasses are a huge turn-on, though. Cigarettes are a massive turn-off - I can't stand smoke, it sets off my asthma. |
| Food |
I have coeliac disease and have to follow a gluten-free diet, so I really put effort into cooking my food and keeping my diet varied. I make gluten-free pancakes a lot, and they work well at any time of the day. Also, I love rice. I can't eat out a lot, because it's difficult finding somewhere that caters to a GF diet, and then the possibility of cross-contamination makes me quite paranoid, so I tend to avoid the experience. However, locally, I do tend to know where I can eat safely. |
| Drinks |
I drink alcohol very occasionally, and when I do it's only ever cocktails and liquers. I dislike getting drunk, and prefer to be gently tipsy, i.e. giggly and talkative but no balance problems. |
| Holidays |
I haven't been on many holidays - to me, the word 'holiday' generally means going home for a few days to visit my family. However, this year I am going to New Zealand (to visit a friend) and London (to a 70s sci-fi event). London's a big deal, for me, since I've never been there, I'm going on my own, and the event is going to be awesome. |
| Pets |
I have previously had gerbils, rabbits and cats, although not all at the same time. Currently I have no pets, but I would like to have a cat in the house. |
| Fav thing |
Probably my DVDs. They keep me so happy. Or my Big Finish audio CDs, one of which I have signed by Rob Shearman. |
| Fav Place |
Don't really have one... In bed, probably, when I'm exhausted and am about to fall asleep. Or just sitting around my room, watching telly or talking online. So, favourite place is my bedroom, I suppose. |
| What's your favourite radio station ? |
I listen occasionally, at work. I prefer Wave 102 over Tay FM. |
| What's your favourite tv station ? |
BBC1. The Beeb brings all the good stuff. Dave's quite a cool channel as well, although I don't have digital telly in my flat. |
| What's your favourite drink? |
Vanilla rooibos tea. |
| What's your favourite food? |
Before going gluten-free, I loved spaghetti bolognese and Danish pastries. Now I'd have to say sweet & sour chicken, and buckwheat flapjacks. |
| What are your favourite activities? |
Quiet activities, mostly - walking, reading, talking. I also love singing along to my headphones, often in public. Dancing around my room is a lot of fun. |
| My attitude |
| Family life |
I know I want to marry a special woman someday, and have children - either hers or adopted. I wouldn't wear a wedding dress, and I'd have a best man. I have no idea where I'll be at that point in my life, but I can't see it happening for quite a few years yet. |
| Jobs&Working |
I have a firm ambition to work with animals, and I believe I won't be fulfilled by any other type of work, so I will keep going until I have my perfect job. Money's not too important, as long as I can get by in relative comfort. |
| Money |
It's handy, but not essential. I'd rather be happy than rich. |
| Politics |
I'm rather apolitical, mainly through my own incomprehension. I enjoy political matters that are entirely fictitious, but the politics of my own country leave me baffled. |
