| About me |
| Where I live |
I live in a tiny 17th century stone cottage in a small and beautiful Cotswold village where the natives are friendly and are quick to send smoke signals when fun and frivolity are about to erupt. I can't imagine living anywhere else, it is just the perfect place. |
| Where are you originally from? |
I was born and brought up in Buckinghamshire, moved to Richmond (Surrey) when I was 20 and moved back to Bucks. in 1980. Came to the Cotswolds in 1992. |
| Do you want to stay there? |
| What are your future plans? |
I have no plans for the future. I am a happy soul and laugh my way through life and wouldn't change it for anyone elses. |
| Your perfect partner |
I like feminine curvy women, I'm not keen on skinny or heavy butch (though soft butch is fine). A wacky sense of humour is mandatory! Someone who is intelligent and fun. I want someone who is always smiling, doesn't bicker or make scenes, is not moody, is tactile, affectionate and romantic, happy to take the day as it comes, get up early and drive somewhere with a picnic, or lie in the whole day with a bottle or two of champagne and some smoked oysters, someone who will tickle me until I get up and make the breakfast, someone who will make me laugh, someone soft and warm to cuddle up to, someone to whisper with in the dark. I don't necessarily want to live with anyone, but I want someone I will see very regularly and will be a significant part of my life. |

| Stuff I like |
| What are you interests/hobbies? |
I have many interests and hobbies, sometimes too many, but my main passion is photography. Local/social/family history, birdwatching, fishing, stained glass, art, computing - graphic design and websites, countryside and natural history... |
| Music |
My tastes are very catholic but my big bag is JAZZZZZZZ.... almost any jazz, and I prefer female singers like Shirley Horn, Billie Holiday, Diana Krall, Sarah Vaughan, Julie London, Peggy Lee... jazz list far too long... on to other stuff: 50/60s rock 'n roll and doo-wop, 70s soul, Etta James, Joe Cocker, Rita Coolidge, Barbra Streisand, Carly Simon, Dusty Springfield, Queen, Elkie Brooks, Eagles, ELO, Eurythmics, Janis Ian, kd lang, Lizz Wright, Nina Simone, Santana. Classical & Opera: Bach, Bruch, Handel, Elgar, Mozart, Vivaldi, Verdi, Puccini...... lots more... |
| Your fav tv series |
I don't own a TV and I am not at all keen on watching it. Exceptions might be natural history, documentaries, and good drama. PLEASE never ask me to watch any talent shows or Big Brother - you can watch it, I'll go to the pub... |
| Your fav books/authors |
Love books and reading, but tend to go through phases of consuming everything or reading nothing at all for months. Taste very catholic but my absolute favourite author is W Somerset Maugham. |
| What sort of movies do you like? |
I'm not a great movie buff but am not totally dismissive. I'll watch a good thriller (preferably not American) or good British drama, and I do love the old 1960s black and white kitchen sink dramas like Room at the Top, Taste of Honey, Saturday Night & Sunday Morning etc... |
| Types of people you like? |
I like bubbly outgoing people |
| Food |
My favourite food is Italian - but I like just about anything except fast/junk food and I never eat ready meals or chips. I love cooking but always prefer that I am cooking for someone rather than just me. I am not keen on eating out as I'm so often both disappointed and skint! There are a few exceptions, but very few. I prefer to buy good ingredients and wine and eat at home by candlelight and in private. |
| Drinks |
My favourite tipples are red wine (Pinotage/Merlot/Montepulciano - full bodied wines but not too heavy, definitely not Cabernet Sauvignon). I love brandy (and prefer cheap Spanish - unless it's a Remy XO !!), frozen Vodka and bloody Mary's, champagne, campari, and good ale. |
| Holidays |
I haven't been abroad for many years - I just can't be bothered with all that getting to the airport and all the hell that goes with it. I prefer to stick a pin in a map of the UK and get in the car and go - and go out of my way to find a scenic route on B-roads, stay in a small village in a cosy inn or a bohemian self catering cottage. I love Yorkshire, Scotland, Wales, Cumbria, and the West Country. Holidays are not anything vital in my life as I feel I'm permanently on holiday in this lovely village. |
| Pets |
I don't have any pets but used to have cats - I don't want any more as I can't bear the heartache when they go and at this time of my life I just want to be totally independent of that sort of responsibility. I like dogs too (except when they slaver!) and often walk dogs for my friends. |
| Fav thing |
I would hate to be parted from my camera and my laptop and photo files, but apart from those there are just a few hugely sentimental objets which treasured friends have given me over the years. |
| Fav Place |
My favourite place in all the world is the Shibden Mill Inn - a little gem set in the beautiful Shibden valley on the outskirts of Halifax in Yorkshire. An ancient inn with the most fabulous accommodation and my very favourite restaurant. |
| What's your favourite radio station ? |
I listen to the radio most of the day - switching between Radio 4, FiveLive and Radio 7. |
| My attitude |
| Family life |
I don't have any children or siblings and am my own boss! I am truly blessed with good friends of many years standing - three going back to the sixties. I adore them and would do anything for them - as they would for me. |
| Money |
Money means nothing to me. As long as I have enough to pay my essential bills, put some petrol in the car, go to the pub a few times a week and have some wine with my evening meal I want nothing more. |
